Seoul 3-Day Itinerary for First-Time Visitors (2026 Guide)
Three days in one neighborhood base: land and sort the card, walk the palace district, then leave a margin for the airport. No invented ticket prices.
This guide has no affiliate links. Facts that can change were checked on October 6, 2026. Use the official pages at the bottom again on the day you travel.
This plan assumes four nights or a late flight on day three, one hotel, and no hope of seeing all of Seoul. Admission prices are not listed. Palace hours change, so check the palace site the week you go.
Read where to stay before you lock the hotel. The steps below are written for a Jongno or Myeongdong base. Hongdae still works if you accept a longer morning ride.
Day 1: land and stop
- Take the airport train and buy the T-money card before you board the all-stop train.
- Install Naver Map or KakaoMap and the data plan while you still have wifi.
- Check in, leave the luggage, and walk one neighborhood only. If you are in Jongno, that walk is Insadong and a palace gate from the outside. If you are in Myeongdong, walk the station exits so tomorrow’s departure is obvious.
- Eat near the hotel. Do not cross the city for a famous dinner on the night you landed.
Day 2: one palace district
Spend the day north of the river. Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon, and Ikseon-dong are enough. Go early, keep the same transit card, and sit down for lunch instead of adding a second district.
In the evening, either stay in the neighborhood or ride to Myeongdong if you want the crowded street food. Do not add Gangnam “because it is famous.” You can go on another trip.
Day 3: one extra thing, then the airport
Pick one of these, not all of them: the National Museum, a Han River park, or a market. Stop in time to be at the airport early. The train ride is under an hour, and the airport itself is not. Work backward from the flight using the airline’s cutoff, not from a blog’s guess.
If you bought goods you want a tax refund on, the refund counter is after you are inside the departure process. Do not leave that for the last ten minutes.
What this plan refuses
It does not include the DMZ, Nami Island, Busan, or a different hotel each night. Those are separate trips. Three days is the city, the card, and one palace.
