How to Get from Incheon Airport to Seoul (2026 Guide)

Take the AREX Express or the cheaper all-stop train from Incheon Airport to Seoul, with adult fares copied from the operator on October 6, 2026.

This guide has no affiliate links. Facts that can change were checked on October 6, 2026. Use the official pages at the bottom again on the day you travel.

Two trains leave the airport for Seoul on the same rail line. The Express is a reserved seat and skips every station until Seoul Station. The all-stop train is the cheaper commuter ride and can drop you at Hongik University, Gongdeok, and other stops.

Both stations are under the airport. Follow the Airport Railroad signs after you leave baggage claim.

Which train to take

Choose the Express when Seoul Station is actually useful. That station connects with KTX, Seoul subway lines 1 and 4, and the Gyeongui line. AREX lists the Express ride as 43 minutes between Seoul Station and Terminal 1, and 51 minutes between Seoul Station and Terminal 2.

Choose the all-stop train when your hotel is nearer Hongik University (Hongdae, subway line 2) or Gongdeok. You will not get an assigned seat. The official Express page lists the all-stop stops in this order from Seoul: Gongdeok, Hongik University, Digital Media City, Magongnaru, Gimpo Airport, Gyeyang, Geomam, Cheongna International City, Yeongjong, Unseo, Airport Cargo Terminal, then the two airport terminals.

Adult fares checked October 6, 2026

These are the adult prices published by AREX that day. They can change. Read the linked official pages again before you pay.

Trip All-stop, transit card Express ticket
Terminal 1 to Seoul Station 4,750 won 13,000 won
Terminal 2 to Seoul Station 5,350 won 13,000 won
Terminal 1 to Hongik University 4,650 won Not served
Terminal 2 to Hongik University 5,250 won Not served

The Express page also lists a child fare of 9,500 won, and it shows a higher “normal” adult fare of 18,500 won from Terminal 1 and 19,100 won from Terminal 2 beside the 13,000 won selling price. Pay the amount on the ticket screen, not a number remembered from this table.

On the all-stop train, a single-use card costs 100 won more than the transit-card fare. The card also has a 500 won deposit, which the operator says you can reclaim at the arrival station. Riders 65 and older ride the all-stop train free when they show the required ID or use a concession card. Child and teen discounts are on the same fare table.

How to board

  1. Follow Airport Railroad or AREX signs to the station under your terminal.
  2. For the all-stop train, tap a transit card with enough balance, or buy a single-use card at the machine.
  3. For the Express, buy a ticket before you board. AREX lists the Express desks at Seoul Station basement level 2, and in the transportation center on basement level 1 at both airport terminals.
  4. Keep the Express ticket until you exit. The Express does not use the same tap-in as the all-stop gates.

Seoul Station is not the door of most hotels. Budget another subway or taxi ride after you arrive, and a separate fare for that ride. The all-stop train takes a T-money card. The Express does not. For the ride after Seoul Station, open Naver Map or KakaoMap instead of relying on Google transit directions.

Bus and taxi

Limousine buses and taxis also leave from the arrivals level. This guide does not copy those fares, because they were not on the AREX pages checked here. Use the airport transportation desk or the official airport site for the current bus stop and the meter rules.
